Mistakes hurt Spartans in baseball loss at F&M: photos

THE York College baseball team lost 8-5 at Franklin & Marshall College on a brisk and windy Tuesday afternoon in Lancaster.

The Spartans (3-5) who have lost four straight games, committed a season-high four errors. Five of F&M’s eight runs were unearned.

According to the YCP website, the Spartans took a 1-0 lead two batter into the first inning as Robby Elzinga singled and scored on Gabe Trevena’s RBI single to center.

Down 2-1 in the fifth, the Spartans tied the game on Trevena’s RBU groundout with the bases loaded. He finished the game with three runs-batted-in.

F&M (2-8), which ended a six-game losing streak, broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
