With Black History Month Underway, the Owning My Blackness Organization (OMB) founded on York College’s Campus is hosting multiple events throughout the month to help educate, advocate, and elevate students the student body and to celebrate Black history.

Karaoke Night

OMB is hosting an R&B and Neo-Soul Karaoke night on Wednesday evening in the Spartans Den.

Thursday, 02/09

How to Vogue!

Spend an hour with OMB Thursday at the Grumbacher gym learning how to vogue! Then put your struts to the test for our high heels dance workshop.

Friday, 02/10


Popular Georgia comedian Mia Jackson will be performing live on York College campus on Friday, the 10th, at 8 p.m.

Monday, 02/13

What is Black love?

Explore Black love by joining the discussion at the Student Union building surrounding what is self and Black love while making cute candy grams and V- day Cards. Scan the QR code for more!

Love the Skin You’re In

With a little self-love the day after Valentines Day, perfect your skincare routine by joining OMB with a licensed dermatologist about what products fit your skin type.

Movie Night

Movie Night in the William Walker room hosted by Campus Activities and Owning my Blackness Organization will be on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m.

Monday, 2/20

Natural Hair Day

Rock your natural hair texture on Monday, the 20th, and participate in picture taking around main campus.

Tuesday, 2/21

Dress Down Throwback

Tuesday’s theme is 1990s to 2000s attire. Dress up or down for your favorite era and participate in picturing taking around main campus.

For the last week of February, Owning my Blackness created a Spirit Week that students and faculty can participate in, leading up to a special event.

Nationality Day

Bring something that you find unique and personal to your culture or show off your flag to celebrate diversity on campus.

Saturday 02/25

Fashion Show/ Step Show

On Saturday, Feb. 25, in Yorkview Hall, OMB is partnering with BSU to host a Fashion Show- showcasing various fashion pieces as well as models. Along with a step performance by Greek Life from York College.
