An early second-half run catapulted host Alvernia to a 70-56 victory Saturday, which snapped a three-game winning streak for the York men’s basketball team.

The Golden Wolves (15-5, 9-2 in the MAC Commonwealth) broke open a one-possession game with a 10-0 run to start the second half and cruised from there, according to the York College website.

Alvernia shot 50.9% for the game, aided by a 17-2 margin in fast break points, and held the Spartans to 30.3% from the field and 23.3% from three-point range, which are both well below their season averages.

Kai Cipalla recorded his first-career double-double with 19 points and a season-high tying 12 rebounds for the Spartans, and Jackson Mascari and Chris Miers added 10 points apiece.

The Spartans (10-10, 4-7) return home Wednesday night to face Albright in an important conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
