THERE is a lot of buzz around a certain spring sport right now here at York College as the athletic department has recently announced the tennis team will be getting a new place to play, which will be ready for the start of the fall semester.
The tennis courts on main campus currently hosts 11 men athletes and 10 female athletes for practices and home matches. In recent years, though, the courts have aged poorly.
However, the new tennis courts, which will be located on West Campus right next to the soccer fields, will come with new everything and will have an additional three courts. It will also come with more seating, something the current setup doesn’t have much of.
Freshman player Jeremy Hadler said of the change, ”I think adding a way for more fans to attend matches will only benefit us. I was very happy with the announcement.”
So was Spartans head coach Ryan Weber, particularly what it could mean for the program moving forward.
“The new tennis facility is a huge deal and will definitely help to allow us to recruit a higher level of player,” he said. “For the current players, it will give them a place to practice and play matches in a setting they can take pride in.”
